Lautaro Martinez spoke about his stellar stretch, the World Cup, and the challenging preparation ahead of it in an interview.

Striker Martinez Admits Inter Missed Desire to Win at Monza

Following a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Napoli in the previous round, Inter were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw at Monza’s Stadio Brianteo by virtue of a complicated header at the death. Striker Lautaro Martinez, who handed the Nerazzurri back the lead in the 22nd minute following Patrick Ciurra’s flashing equaliser just a minute after Matteo Darmian drew first blood, has revealed his side were missing the desire to win.

Speaking to the press in his post-match press conference to Rai Sport (via FCInterNews), Martinez offered his insight into the result that yet again put Inter on the back foot in the Scudetto race.

“What did we miss? A little desire to win, sometimes we lose this thing and it’s not good because we have to close the games first. If we are ahead of a goal, we must keep the race under control, we missed this; we must improve this aspect.”

Inter fall into fourth position following the draw, three points behind Milan and Juventus, and ten points behind league leaders Napoli.
