Inter Ready to Improve Offer to Acquire Euro Standout from PSV

Inter plan to use part of the money coming from the sale of Romelu Lukaku to purchase Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch international has always been highly placed in their list of options to substitute Achraf Hakimi. However, they previously did not have the resources to put together a strong bid. PSV had sternly rebuffed their attempts to bring him in on an initial loan.

The situation has changed. Inter will start with a €12/15M offer, while the Dutch club wants €20M, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Alfredo Pedullà report. Some bonuses could make up the difference, which does not appear to be insurmountable.

PSV are already resigned to losing the talented right-back. Coach Roger Schmidt stated a few days ago: “Dumfries is not part of the squad at the moment. Everybody knows he wants to leave and we accepted his request.” Everton are also after him, but the player prefers moving to La Beneamata, the Italian newspaper adds.

Inter have been in talks with his agent Mino Raiola. They are closing in on a four-year contract with €2.5M annual wages. The Nerazzurri are confident they will be able to sign him. The 25-year-old has scored 16 times and provided 20 assists in 124 matches with the Boeren.

The chase of Dumfries has left Nahitan Nandez on stand-by. The Cagliari contributor is eager to join and can feature in multiple positions. However, Inter would need to sell a midfielder to make room for him if they got their no.1 target for the flank.
