Inter legend Sandro Mazzola believes Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti deserves huge credit for leading the Partenopei atop league standings and enroute their first Scudetto since the days of Diego Maradona in 1989/90. Napoli are unbeaten after 15 games midway through the Serie A season.
Speaking to the microphones of Radio Kiss Kiss (via FCInterNews), the RAI football commentator and analyst heaped praise on the former Nerazzurri coach.
“Luciano Spalletti is doing a commendable job in Naples, if the sky blue team is so high the credit is certainly also for the coach.”
Mazzola also went on to suggest that Spalletti could return to Inter as perhaps Simone Inzaghi’s successor.
“If I would bring him back to Inter if I were the president? Absolutely yes, we are talking about a coach of absolute value – it leaves little room for interpretations.”
Spalletti has taken charge of 68 games so far at Napoli, winning 45, drawing 11 and losing just 12. His team returns back in action against Inter on January 4th when the campaign resumes.
