Lazio Star Agent Torches Brass over Delay on Renewal

Mattia Zaccagni has been tipped to prolong his Lazio contract for a while following a glorious season, but the parties have yet to come to an understanding. His agent Mario Giuffredi fired a warning shot at Claudio Lotito to Tuttomercatoweb.

“We talked for eight months: first, there was the January window, then Easter, then the end of the season and the team’s objectives, his political commitments, and finally the summer. I’ve tried to reach an agreement as soon as possible with all my goodwill because Mattia wants to tie himself down long-term.”

The Zaccagni representative is starting to lose his patience.

“It’s no longer my problem. Evidently, the president has different priorities. I don’t beg anybody. An extension must be a mutual courtesy. The player has an important year ahead of him. He aims to do well in Serie A, the Champions League, and with the national team. We’re sure it’ll be a great campaign.”

The current Zaccagni contract lasts until 2025.

“He’ll be in the same situation as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the end of the campaign. It surely won’t be our fault. It’ll be too late to negotiate in the spring. We’re not here waiting for others’ conveniences. And maybe we will change our mind in a few months.”

Our Take on Zaccagni

That’s quite the rant. The Biancocelesti seemingly set up multiple key renewals but have yet to finalize one. This one is a no-brainer.
