Lazio Said to Be Interested in Former Milan Young Flop

Lazio signed Daichi Kamada to replace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but they are mulling further moves in the midfield and have earmarked Aster Vranckx. He’s back at Wolfsburg after a rough season at Milan, where he struggled to get playing time.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Belgian youngster has been pursued by PSV and Burnley this summer. However, those transfers didn’t come to fruition. The Biancocelesti opened talks with the Bundesliga side.

Wolfsburg prefer a permanent sale this time, and Lazio have to sell €10M plus add-ons for Vranckx. The deal is in its infant stages for the time being, but it would proceed quickly if the capital side wanted to.

Coach Maurizio Sarri, who hasn’t always liked the names the management proposed, has reportedly signed off on such an acquisition. The 20-year-old featured just 10 times with Milan last season for a total of just over 300 minutes, failing to impress.

Our Take on Lazio and Vranckx

Having bagged an established and high-profile player like Kamada gives the Biancocelesti more leeway to onboard a prospect to round out their midfield. Even should they sign Samuele Ricci, they would need a box-to-box since Matias Vecino is the only okay deputy, while Toma Basic hasn’t panned out. He could be worth a flier, but other options previously linked to them were more interesting.
