30-year-old Brazilian-Italian midfielder Jorginho has regularly been ranked among the best in his position since the past two seasons. However, the current campaign has witnessed somewhat of a curve in the central midfielder’s status in Chelsea’s starting eleven under coach Thomas Tuchel.
He has seen the bench more often of late because of Tuchel’s preference of other midfielders over him. That being the case, Calciomercato.it reports of the former Napoli man’s intent of returning to Italy, where spent eight seasons of his career – first at Hellas Verona and then the Partenopei.
The midfield pivot has garnered the attention of several top giants, from Juventus and Milan to Inter and Roma. All four teams are in search of a proven center-half and Jorginho’s status certainly ranks high in their wish list.
Juventus recently acquired Denis Zakaria in the winter, before which they onboarded Sassuolo talent Manuel Locatelli. They are also in line for Pogba, which might make a move for Jorginho non-existent. Milan and Inter are dealing with contractual war at the moment with two of their most prized midfield assets – Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic, respectively. Whereas, the Giallorossi will need to confirm a place in Champions League next campaign, in order to attract the regista’s attention.
Jorginho’s contract at Chelsea expires only at the end of next season, and his €45m valuation, according to transfermarkt, will certainly make the interested teams think twice before shelling any euros.
He won everything there was possible to win last season with Chelsea and Italy, but now might be looking towards the exit door at Stamford Bridge.
