Barcelona Set Price Tag on Inter Target Franck Kessie

Newly-crowned La Liga champions have slapped a €35m price tag on Franck Kessie amid growing interest from Inter. According to Spanish media outlet Sport, the Catalan heavyweights are open to letting the ex-Milan man leave this summer, but they are reluctant to do it for pennies.

Kessie left San Siro to team up with Barcelona last summer after running down his contract at Milan. But while his career in Serie A was an utter success, the move hasn’t panned out as expected. The 26-year-old has been on the fringes of the Camp Nou side in 2022/23, making only seven league starts.

With Barcelona strapped for cash, offloading bit-part players is one of the club’s priorities this summer. Xavi Hernandez is hellbent on reinforcing his squad. But the Spaniards must balance their books before being allowed to register new signings. As such, Kessie has emerged as one of the first names on the chopping block.

Although his career in La Liga has taken a downward curve, the Ivory Coast international could make his return to Serie A to join Inter. Manager Simone Inzaghi is keen to add to his midfield options after narrowly missing out on Champions League glory last season. And Kessie seems to be featuring his wishlist close to the top.

Like Barcelona, Inter may have to take care of some financial problems of their own. But after reaching the Champions League final poured significant funds into the club’s coffers, they could make the deal happen. Kessie may fancy a return to Italy to get his career back on the rails, only to become the latest player to don the shirts of both Milan sides.

Our take on Kessie’s possible move to Inter

Despite his difficult time at the Iberian Peninsula, Kessie would still be a massive coup for Inter if they could find a way to get the most out of him. In today’s market prices, Barcelona’s demands seem reasonable, enhancing the prospect of the Ivorian’s return to Serie A.
