Bologna Rejoice as Backline Staple Returns Ahead of Lazio Visit

Ten competitive games unbeaten, Bologna have been doing really well under Thiago Motta of late, most recently ousting Hellas Verona out of the Coppa Italia’s second round with a 2-0 victory. Defensively, the Rossoblù have been close to perfect, keeping five clean sheets in their last eight encounters, with the absence of Jhon Lucumì not being felt at all.

However, as Bologna prepare to return to training at Casteldebole ahead of the clash against Lazio, they have been boosted with the return of Lucumì, as per TuttoBolognaweb. The Colombian was ruled of the Rossoblù’s fixtures last month with a thigh muscle injury but is all set to return to train with the first team.

Motta will be able to call up the center-back for the game against the Biancocelesti, although he is unlikely to start from the beginning. Kevin Bonifazi and Sam Beukema have been alternating alongside Riccardo Calafiori in the backline, and Lucumì’s return from injury will provide Motta with an additional boost ahead of their crucial encounter at home.

Bologna are unbeaten in their last nine league games (W3, D6). The last time they remained unbeaten in ten league games in a row was between December 1979 and March 1980, under club icon Marino Perani.

  1. Well it’s time for Lazio to show them they are the big boys here and hungry to win.

Bologna won’t be easy to beat though, hence their undefeated record in the last almost two months.

I believe Sarris team will edge this.
