Father of Napoli Star Cools Down Chatter About Exit

Hirving Lozano has been tipped to leave Napoli in the summer, but he is personally not in a rush to do so. His father suggested that he would stay put and that his role would grow with the departure of Lorenzo Insigne. The Mexican winger is finishing the season well after getting healthy.

Jesus Lozano spoke to CalcioNapoli24: “We talked last week; unfortunately, it is almost mathematically impossible for them to win the Scudetto now. Such is football. They will try again next year. Luciano Spalletti is leaning on him more, and he is very comfortable with him. I hope they can continue together.”

“His favorite flank is the left one, so he can cut back and shoot. Insigne’s exit will allow him to play there. He is great in Naples, and I think he wants to stay. He is happy with the city overall, and so is his family.”

Lozano drew criticism earlier this season when he suggested that Napoli were not a club and that he aspired to join one. His father addressed the controversy: “Everybody has his dreams, but he is focusing on doing well with the Azzurri now.”

Despite the words by his relative, the Partenopei will consider offers for the forward that are close to what they spent for him in 2019, around €40M, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. According to Sky’s Luca Marchetti, Lozano is not among the players considered untouchable by Napoli. The list comprises only Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Amir Rrahmani, Stanislav Lobotka and Matteo Politano.
