Francesco Totti Open to Roma Return Under New Ownership

Francesco Totti is enjoying his time as a talent scout for his own company, but he would be willing to come back to Roma if the new ownership asked him, he told Christian Vieri and Antonio Cassano in a chat during the web show Bobo TV. He left the club in 2019 after two years as a director due to disagreements with former president James Pallotta.

He said: “The ownership, the coach and the general manager are all foreigners. Adding a true Roman that can link up the players and the management would be the best thing to do for them. It has not happened yet but, should the Friedkin family reach out to me, I would surely consider coming back. If I had a team, I would hire several former players and give them different roles. In my mind, who played football knows football.”

He weighed in on his exit: “I would have liked to have more influence in the decisions, I think I would have contributed more than some other executives at the time, but my ideas were not taken into consideration.”

Totti concluded by commenting on his current job and indirectly addressing the recent controversies: “I did not expect to take this path, I thought I would stay at Roma forever, but I they left me no choice and I hope to have made the right call. I play by the rules, I only take on board players that have no representatives, otherwise I steer clear.”
