Milan veteran Olivier Giroud is inching closer towards a contract renewal at the club, as his expiration date nears – at the end of the season. The French icon is touted to extend his stay by one year at the Rossoneri, tying himself until the summer of 2024.
As per latest reports from Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Milan will wait until the Derby della Madonnina is over, before offering him a renewed deal. The Frenchman was subject to offers from Premier League relegation contenders Everton for a winter move in the final hours of the transfer window, but ended up understandably rejecting the Merseyside outfit.
Reportedly, he has his mind set on staying with Milan, at least for another year. However, he may move the year after to the MLS, having already expressed his admiration for the league.
Giroud has been a vital part of Stefano Pioli’s side in recent seasons since he joined from Chelsea in the summer of 2021. His performances were key in Milan’s Scudetto triumph last season.
