Former Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund has completed his blockbuster transfer to Manchester United after only one season in Bergamo. Thrilled for his new adventure at Old Trafford, the 20-year-old couldn’t hide his enthusiasm.
In his first interview as a new Man Utd frontman, the Denmark international stated he fulfilled his dream of playing for the Red Devils.
“It’s no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy. I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player,” Hojlund said, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano.
“I have the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world.”
Hojlund’s mega-money move to the Premier League has poured a whopping €70 million into La Dea’s bank accounts. In previous years, Atalanta would’ve probably settled for a significant profit. However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s ambitions have skyrocketed.
In addition to El Bilal Toure, Mitchel Bakker, and Sead Kolasinac, Atalanta are on the verge of signing Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United. The Italian’s switch to the Gewiss Stadium is a mere formality after Gasperini’s side leapfrogged Inter and Roma to capture the 24-year-old’s signature.
Scamacca’s impending arrival won’t be the last. Atalanta could soon complete another significant purchase. Milan’s Charles De Ketelaere is Gasperini’s next target, with La Dea already striking an agreement with Rossoneri over the Belgian playmaker’s loan move.
