Ibrahimovic Ahead of Milan Return: “Do I Still Feel Like God? Of Course!”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not worried by Milan’s form despite the latest Derby della Madonnina defeat to Inter being their seventh winless match on the trot. The iconic Swede only recently returned to the training field after a 8-month long layoff due to injury, but Stefano Pioli might just use him as a substitute in the upcoming encounter against Torino.

Speaking to SportMediaset, the Rossoneri striker highlighted his importance in familiar fashion following a lengthy injury setback.

“The criticism is normal, because if they don’t criticize you, you’re not at the top. They’ve criticized me for 25 years because I’m number one, I’m used to it. It’s like adding fuel to the fire and when you play with fire, you burn yourself. Do I still feel like God? Of course. It does not change anything.”

Ibra then disclosed how he feels about returning to training with the first team squad.

“I’m fine, I’m very fine! I’ve returned to the group and I feel free, free on and off the pitch. In this period, I’ve done everything to help the coach, staff and club from outside. I was patient because I had to come back at the top, the recovery is going according to plan.”

He also had some pieces of advice to share for Rafael Leao and Charles De Ketelaere.

“Leao had a fantastic year, he won the award for the best player in the league award. He has to stay focused and play football despite talks about his contract. Everything else is resolved. De Ketelaere is under great pressure for the price paid. Everyone has expectations. He’s a talent, he has great potential, he just needs to find the right way to grow.”

Milan will look to get back to winning ways, perhaps with the presence of Ibrahimovic on-field, when they face Torino at San Siro in two days time.
