Insigne to Miss Time, Osimhen Receives Initial Clearance

Napoli received mixed news from the infirmary today as Lorenzo Insigne will sit out a few games, and Victor Osimhen might not play right away. The attacker has been diagnosed with a thigh injury and will return after the late January break. Hirving Lozano is heading back to Italy from Mexico after shaking off Coronavirus.

Osimhen reported to the team yesterday after dropping out of AFCON and clearing the COVID-19 protocols. He underwent a CT scan to assess his facial fracture. He has been allowed to practice fully, but he is not a lock to be available for the next game.

Napoli doctor Raffaele Caninco commented on Insigne and Osimhen to Radio Kiss Kiss: “The latter suffered a small pull of the adductor muscle of the right leg. He should be able to recover in a couple of weeks. He has always responded well after muscular injuries. It is a pretty common situation.”

“We evaluated the results of Osimhen’s tests with the surgeons that operated on him. We are happy with them, as he is fine medically and biologically. His bones have healed. He can train with the rest of the group with a special mask. He will have to wear it for a month and a half. We will be cautious with him, and his sensations will be key in determining when he could play. When he feels ready for contact, we will provide further evaluations. He has been out since November 21st, and so he needs time also for other reasons.”
