With a contract expiring at the end of the season, Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram is a wanted man. Inter and Juventus are in the mix.

Inter-Linked Moenchengladbach Star Will Move on a Free

Borussia Moenchengladbach formally announced that Marcus Thuram and Remy Bensebaini would not extend their contracts and leave on free transfers, which was a poorly kept secret. The Algerian international is reportedly in very advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund. Instead, a few sides, including Inter, are chasing after the Frenchman.

According to Calciomercato, the striker is looking to move to a bigger team that plays in Champions League and would give him a regular role. The Nerazzurri, although they are currently outside looking in the top four, are confident about those conditions. Though, the competition is stiff.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid pose the most significant threats to Inter in the Thuram race. La Beneamata met his agents a few times in Qatar. They inquired about an early transfer to forestall the competition. However, they didn’t find an opening.

According to SportMediaset (via OneFootball), the forward is on the verge of deciding his next destination. On the other hand, he has turned down the most recent proposal by the Nerazzurri.

Our Take on Inter and Thuram

They moved early, which it’s paramount for Bosman moves, but they are dealing with too much uncertainty to put pedal to the metal. They don’t know whether they will qualify for the Champions League, which inevitably affects their budget. Plus, it’s unknown whether they’ll keep Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko. Other teams, on top of having more resources, can operate with more assertiveness. They’ll have a better shot if he waits it out. Though, it’s easy to imagine they won’t emerge victorious if a bidding war breaks out.
