Serie A champions Inter are plotting a summer raid on fierce rivals Juventus as Beppe Marotta targets another Bosman deal. According to SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, Adrien Rabiot has landed on the Nerazzurri’s radar amid his contractual wobble in Turin.
Rabiot’s deal at the Allianz Stadium runs out at the end of next month. Although Juventus remain desperate to tie the 29-year-old down to a new contract, negotiations with his mother-agent Veronique have hit a standstill. With showdown talks waiting around the corner, Inter are on their toes.
Marotta has already agreed deals to sign Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski on free transfers. However, the Inter CEO is unwilling to stop there. If an opportunity presents itself, he’ll be ready to pounce. Snapping a player of Rabiot’s quality without spending a dime fits the veteran executive’s modus operandi.
After all, that’s how he assembled several Scudetto-winning crops at Juventus and Inter. Therefore, he’ll keep a close eye on developments in Turin. It shouldn’t take long before Rabiot informs the Bianconeri of his decision. But unlike last year, when he penned a short-term extension, optimism is slightly diminished this time around.
If talks go sideways, Rabiot could end up wearing the Inter jersey next season despite foreign interest. If anyone can convince him to swap allegiances in Serie A, it’s Marotta. He did the same with Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, persuading them to leave Milan and Roma, respectively.
So, how can anyone doubt his capability to lure Rabiot to Inter?
