Juventus Compile Three-Man Shortlist to Bolster Their Squad

Following an abysmal Serie A start, Juventus are already scouring the market for future reinforcements to bolster their depleted squad. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the record-time Italian champions have identified three high-profile targets for the upcoming transfer windows.

Barcelona loanee Antoine Griezmann, who returned to Atletico Madrid on a two-year loan in 2021, has emerged as one of the three potential candidates. With Los Rojiblancos reluctant to trigger the Frenchman’s buy-out clause and the player unwilling to head back to Camp Nou, Juventus consider swooping for the left-footed forward next summer.

Over the past couple of years, Griezmann’s valuation has dropped considerably. The 31-year-old could be available on a cut-price deal come the summer of 2023, and Juventus may give it a shot.

In addition to Griezmann, Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic is another profile carefully examined by the Bianconeri hierarchy. The USMNT star’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in 2024. Since he has lost his starting berth, the prospect of renewing his deal in west London doesn’t suit the former Borussia Dortmund ace.

Despite purchasing Pulisic’s services for €64m in January 2019, Chelsea can no longer recoup that figure. Low in the pecking order, the 24-year-old is said to be keen to exit the Premier League to reignite his career, with Juventus ready to pounce.

Last but not least, long-serving Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio has found his name on the Italians’ shopping list. The Spaniard’s contract is due to expire next summer, and Juventus have been alerted. No strangers to landing big-name stars of free transfers, they already snapped up the likes of Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba this summer.

Asensio has fallen out of favor in Madrid and is unlikely to extend his contract in the next nine months. Juventus’ fierce Serie A rivals Milan thought about launching a summer bid for the ex-Mallorca man in the summer. But they eventually gave up due to the economic aspect of the operation.
