Juventus have been attached to a litany of midfielders, but CEO Cristiano Giuntoli admitted that they might not necessarily add a new one if they don’t find the right deal. He spoke to DAZN and Sky before the Inter clash (via 90min).
“We’re happy for Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, who’s the latest example of the work the club has done in recent years. The pipeline of youngsters that make it to the first team carries on. He’s extraordinary and always trained with dedication. He has quality. We’re convinced he’s worthy.”
Giuntoli set the objectives for this season.
“We’re honest, and our goal is to qualify for the Champions League. The club had managed last season too. These matches help us assess our growth. There’s magic also in finishing in the top four. We have to take it step by step and evaluate the performances and not just the result.”
Giuntoli was pressed about their supposed lack of ambition.
“It doesn’t mean we’re settling, but we’re conscious and don’t want to stymie the dreams of our players. We want to avoid Pindaric flights.”
Giuntoli dished on the January window.
“I don’t think an addition would solve everything. We’re all giving our best. We want to see what Nicolussi Caviglia or Samuel Iling could offer first. We’re mulling, and we’ll be ready if there’s a quality opportunity that respects our economic balance.”
