Juventus Outcast Emerges as Burnley Transfer Target

Juventus misfit Aaron Ramsey is seemingly edging closer to returning to the Premier League after Burnley stepped up their interest in the Welshman. According to The Sun, the Clarets have established contacts with the player’s representatives to understand the feasibility of a loan deal.

Ramsey grew into one of Europe’s finest playmakers during his time in the Premier League with Arsenal before putting pen to paper on a mega-contract at Juventus in 2019. However, he has never found his feet in Serie A, becoming a peripheral figure at the Allianz Stadium despite his staggering £400k-a-week wages.

Juventus are now keen to get rid of Ramsey’s salary, particularly in light of the club’s efforts to overhaul their squad in the ongoing transfer window. After Crystal Palace and Newcastle United withdrew from the race to bring the 31-year-old back to the Premier League, Burnley are not the front-runners to secure the Wales international’s temporary switch.

Despite turning down the Clarets’ initial approach, Ramsey could give serious thought to the possibility of moving to Turf Moor in the World Cup year. Since he has no future at Juventus, the attacking midfielder needs regular first-team action elsewhere to stay in shape ahead of Wales’ dreaded World Cup play-offs.

Burnley do not have the economic capacity to meet the player’s wage demands, which could throw a spanner in the works. However, in a lack of concrete bids from other interested parties, Juventus may have to accept sharing the wage burden with the Lancashire outfit to at least get a portion of Ramsey’s lucrative salary off their books.
