Juventus Outcast Keen to See Out His Lucrative Deal

Aaron Ramsey has rejected the idea of leaving Juventus this winter despite being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Massimiliano Allegri. Per Calciomercato, the Wales international has turned down numerous offers from the Premier League as he looks to run down his contract in Turin.

Even though he has found his first-team opportunities hard to come by under Allegri, Ramsey remains one of Juventus’ highest earners. According to a BBC report from 2019, the former Arsenal playmaker pockets around £400,000 per week, which makes him one of the highest-paid stars in Serie A, let alone Turin.

With a year-and-a-half left to run on his current contract, the Welshman has no interest in departing Juventus for lower wages elsewhere. In this regard, Ramsey has already knocked back offers from Aston Villa, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Wolverhampton. That contrasts recent reports saying he is seeking a way out in the World Cup year.

Since he is hell-bent on seeing out his deal at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus cannot do much to force their misfit’s departure this January. Indeed, though he is aware Allegri could nail him to the stands in the remainder of the season, Ramsey prefers not to play over dropping his salary.

The midfielder’s reluctance to leave threatens to hinder Juventus’ plan to overhaul their squad. After landing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in a mega-money deal, the record-time Italian champions have to free up a wage burden and make room for potential new arrivals.

Ramsey has emerged as one of the likeliest candidates to wave goodbye to the Bianconeri faithful, but Juventus will have to find a new sacrificial lamb in all likelihood. As things stand, the Allianz hierarchy faces another ‘Sami Khedira’ scenario all over again.
