Juventus Player Ratings vs Napoli: Late Cuadrado Blunder Proves Costly

At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus hosted Napoli in the biggest showdown of Serie A Round 31. Massimiliano Allegri applied his trademark counter-attacking approach and his plan almost worked to perfection, but Angel Di Maria’s goal was denied by VAR. In a dramatic finish, Giacomo Raspadori came off the bench to snatch an injury-time winner for the Partenopei. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who suffered a third Serie A defeat in a row, this time at the hands of Napoli.

Juventus (3-5-1-1)

Wojciech Szczesny – 6.5

The Pole made a decent save to deny Victor Osimhen as well as some routine interventions. But was left with no chance against Raspadori’s late shot.

Federico Gatti – 6.5

A solid outing from the Italian defender who did well to limit the danger of Kvaratskhelia, but he lost track of Osimhen on a couple of occasions.

Daniele Rugani – 7

A fabulous display at the back from the benchwarmer who proved his worth by putting up a fight against Osimhen and company. Won most of the aerial duels.

Danilo – 6.5

Another commanding outing from the Juventus captain who kept Hirving Lozano quiet, but eventually had trouble in containing Eljif Elmas.

Juan Cuadrado – 5.5

It was a decent performance from the Colombian veteran until he fell in the Napoli’s penalty area while demanding a non-existing penalty. On this occasion, he failed to report to his defensive duties, leaving Raspadori with all the time and space in the world to bag a goal.

Fabio Miretti – 6

The youngster worked hard in the middle of the park and chased Lobotka for a considerable amount of time. But it wasn’t exactly a thrilling display.

Manuel Locatelli – 7

A top-notch outing from the former Sassuolo man who valiantly shielded the backline, retrieved countless balls and launched several attacks, including the counter-attack that culminated in Di Maria’s disallowed goal.

Adrien Rabiot – 6.5

The Frenchman endured a tough battle against Zambo Anguissa, but it was a positive evening overall on a personal level.

Filip Kostic – 5.5

The Serbian always managed to put himself in the right position, but he failed to deliver pinpoint balls to the penalty box.

Matias Soulé – 6

An encouraging outing from the young Argentine who didn’t seem too perturbed by the grand occasion. Tracked back to support Cuadrado in his duel against Kvaratskhelia.

Arkadiusz Milik – 5.5

The former Napoli man put up an energetic performance against his former employers, but lacked sharpness on two occasions in front of goal.

Substitutes

Federico Chiesa – 6

The winger had to drop deep to support his Juventus teammates at the back amidst Napoli’s second-half onslaught. Provided an assist for Vlahovic but the ball had jumped off the byline.

Angel Di Maria – 6.5

The Argentine set the right flank ablaze following his introduction. Scored from a deflected shot following a swift counter-attack, but it was eventually disallowed following a VAR review.

Nicolò Fagioli – 5.5

The midfielder chased Stanislav Lobotka, but offered little in the buildup.
