Juventus shotstopper Wojciech Szczesny believes he can last at the club until the end of his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2024. The former Arsenal and Roma goalkeeper spoke to Polish newspaper Przegld Sportowy (via Tuttosport) and shared thoughts on his Bianconeri future, citing that he could probably head to Spain next, when he turns 34, to see out his career.
“I still have 3 years on my contract and if they want to keep me I would like to finish it. Every year there are market rumors, so now I worry when no new names come out for Juventus’ goal.”
When quizzed if he can last as long as Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon, Szczesny replied:
“I won’t play as much as him. Maybe I’ll stay here until 2024, then I’ll go to Spain where I have a home.”
Finally, the Poland international shed light on Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence on the team, having shared the dressing room for two years with the Portuguese superstar.
“A brilliant player, who makes a difference on and off the pitch. I don’t know if there is anyone in the world at his level. When he arrived, however, we didn’t see him as CR7, but as a teammate. With him, however, there were things that I have never heard with other players: entering the field with him, even before the referee whistled the start, it was like being 1-0 ahead. It was impressive.”
Szczesny joined Juventus after a two-season loan spell at Roma back in 2017/18. He has 177 appearances for the black and white shirt so far.
