Kaká Upbeat about Milan in Champions League and Serie A

Ricardo Kaká believes Milan can make it past the group stage in Champions League. “I do not see big gaps between the teams, and anybody could advance. Whoever manages to survive will have an advantage in the Round of 16, where it will be impossible to find easy opponents.”

“The game against Liverpool will be demanding, but there are the premises for a great performance. It will be an important test for everybody, from 40-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who just returned, to all the young talents. The Milan management will be able to determine whom they can count on in the next few years. They will have to read the match properly in the first minutes. But we could have fun if they were as solid as Sunday. The intensity of English teams is on another level.”

“There is a nice mix of youngsters and veterans in today’s Milan like there was in mine. I was able to grow up next to Paolo Maldini, Cafu, Andriy Shevchenko, Filippo Inzaghi and Alessandro Costacurta. It mattered a lot to me. They did not think about their contracts, but only about the good of the club. Now it is up to Ibra, Olivier Giroud, and Simon Kjaer to show the way. They have quality and hunger.”

Kaká talked to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Stefano Pioli has everything in place to enter the upper echelon of coaches. I like that Milan confirmed him and did not ask him everything right away. You need time to build, but he has already done important things.”

“It might be the right year for Milan to win the Scudetto. The other contenders lost something. Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku are gone. They still have Ibra and added Giroud. I think and hope they will come out on top.”
