Lazio Ace Dreams of Real Madrid Amid Manchester United Interest

Serbia ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has etched himself as one of Serie A’s best midfielders ever since his move to Lazio from Belgian outfit KRC Genk in 2015.  He has long been linked to several top clubs for a move away from Stadio Olimpico, but has so far stayed put in the Biancocelesti ranks.

That is, however, bound to change soon, as English giants Manchester United are said to be in pole position for the Serb’s signature, according to reports from Italian outlet Il Messaggero. The versatile 26-year-old is being eyed as a potential direct replacement for French star Paul Pogba, who is set to leave the Red Devils at the end of the season.

Milinkovic-Savic himself has a contract valid until June 2024, and Lazio are expected to pocket nothing less than €70m if an offer for him is accepted.

Bitter Derby d’Italia rivals Inter and Juventus are also interested in the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup winner. However, it is record European champions Real Madrid who are his dream team, although there is no concrete interest from the Spanish capital.

The Serbian has registered 270 appearances for Lazio over a period of seven seasons, scoring 54 goals in the process. This season has seen him play an important part – contributing to 15 goals in 27 caps.
