Lazio President Urges Inter to Improve Offer for Correa

Inter and Lazio are negotiating out in the open for Joaquin Correa. The Argentinian is now the clear no.1 target for the Nerazzurri. His competitor Marcus Thuram suffered a knee injury during the weekend and will miss extended time. The Biancocelesti are not budging from their requests considering that Everton submitted a sizeable bid.

President Claudio Lotito discussed the situation to Rai Sport yesterday: “When I first took on this enterprise, I said ‘cash on the barrelhead and let’s do the deal.’ This continues to be my rule, also because we pay our players. We will hear the offers for him, but we will let him go only if they are acceptable.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are asking for €35/40M, while Inter do not want to spend more than €30M. The Nerazzurri would prefer to do the deal with a loan with obligation to buy. The intermediary Alessandro Lucci is handling the talks between the teams, as their relationship is ice-cold.

Lazio are operating from a position of strength as Inter’s plans have become apparent. The amount of bonuses and their conditions will be key for the positive outcome. Correa is hell-bent on joining Inter and put Everton on hold for a few days to see it through. The Nerazzurri have not ruled out adding another attacker on top of the Argentinian international. Alexis Sanchez will likely stay, but he is not reliable physically. Plus, they have received multiple requests for Andrea Pinamonti and Martin Satriano, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
