Lazio Seek to Steal Monza Target from Napoli Ranks

Napoli striker Andrea Petagna has been the subject of transfer interest from Serie A newcomers Monza, but they are not the only ones in line for his signature, as Lazio have joined the race. The backup striker is keen to move away from Naples in order to garner more playing minutes after only registering just over 1000 minutes under coach Luciano Spalletti last season.

As per Tuttomercatoweb, the capital side is keen to usurp the Brianzoli in a bid to steal him from under the spotlight. The newly-promoted side, who will be playing their first-ever top-flight campaign, have reportedly already agreed to sign the striker on a €5M loan deal with a €10M buy option included.

The center-forward is all but guaranteed a starting spot in Lombardy, whereas the Biancocelesti want him to function as Ciro Immobile’s deputy in the final third. Lazio are already in talks with Napoli to negotiate the Petagna deal, but Monza will not back down easily in their pursuit. Regardless, it is not known which club the 27-year-old prefers.
