Claudio Lotito has weighed in on Ciro Immobile after the striker voiced his malcontent for the lack of gratitude for turning down a massive offer from Saudi Arabia. The president affirmed their commitment to the icon to Il Messaggero (via Fantacalcio).
“I don’t know anything about it. Nobody ever asked for him, and I didn’t even sense any hint about a potential interest. We never even considered the problem. He vented towards some fans, not the team.”
“Sergej Milinkovic-Savic wasn’t for sale. However, his contract was about to run out, and despite our offer to renew it, he asked to go. What was I supposed to do? Lose the player for nothing?”
“Immobile is tied to us until 2026, and the club has no interest in his departure. Taty Castellanos had nice remarks about him. There’s no dualism. I personally treat him like a son.”
Lotito doubled down on his dismissal.
“There’s very little to evaluate if there are no offers or requests. Then, if he had even a remote possibility to leave, he never informed us. We surely don’t want to sell anybody.”
Immobile missed the last Serie A game and international duties due to a thigh problem. He took another MRI of his muscle on Monday, which confirmed that he didn’t suffer a strain. He has a chance to be ready for the next match versus Sassuolo, Sky informs.
