Real Madrid outcast Isco Alarcon has emerged as another potential candidate to replace Hakan Calhanoglu at Milan. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via ManagingMadrid), the Rossoneri are entertaining the prospect of rescuing the Spaniard from his two-year misery in La Liga.
Since Zinedine Zidane returned to the helm, Isco has tumbled down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, becoming a bit-part player in Madrid. Indeed, the 29-year-old registered just eight La Liga starts in 2020/21 and is widely expected to leave the Spanish capital in the coming months.
The arrival of Carlo Ancelotti is unlikely to change Isco’s fate in Madrid as Los Merengues bigwig Florentino Perez plots a summer overhaul of the squad that failed to land a single trophy back last season. With the ex-Malaga midfielder on the fringes of the team, many expect him to make room for the newcomers.
Real Madrid have reportedly slapped a €20million price tag on Isco’s head, with Sevilla showing appreciation for the playmaker’s services. However, the Andalusian heavyweights seem unwilling to match Perez’s demands, which is likely to pave the way for Milan, who have rekindled their interest in the Spaniard.
The Rossoneri were previously interested in Isco, but the lack of funds threw a spanner in the works. With Calhanoglu out for Inter, the emergency has forced Paolo Maldini’s hand, as Milan need to add a new playmaker in the wake of the Turkish star’s departure.
Several high-profile names have already been linked with a move to the San Siro, including Ajax’s Dusan Tadic, Everton’s James Rodriguez, and Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho.
