Milan Midfielder Confirms to Be Fit After Injury Scare

Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be available against Verona after subbing off early versus Newcastle United. Unlike Mike Maignan, he didn’t pick up a muscular injury. He spoke about it and more to Sky.

“I’m fine. It was a really nice game, and we dominated. We played good football and just lacked the end product. We weren’t offensive enough in some instances. They defended well too. We’re disappointed because we should have won. Collecting points is key in the Champions League. The tilt gave us a lot of trust, though.”

Loftus-Cheek was reassuring about his condition.

“It was the first midweek game, so it’s normal to feel some fatigue. The fixtures are very intense. We’re still at the start of the season. It was nothing more than that. I feel good and I’m recovering for the next encounter.”

Loftus-Cheek praised the response by the fans despite the Derby loss.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted. It can happen in football. We can’t win every time. Many things didn’t go our way that day. However, we forged ahead with the same spirit. The supporters were incredible and kept backing us even though we were coming off such an ugly result. That allows us to continue on our path.”

Loftus-Cheek will be an option against Verona but might begin on the bench. Yunus Musah would draw his first start if that were the case, the publication relays.
