Milan President Scaroni Confirms Pioli amid Mixed Buzz

Milan would be ready to question their entire brass, from Stefano Pioli to Paolo Maldini if they missed out on a top-four finish. The achievement is considered pivotal for the finances of the team. The Rossoneri are currently fifth with a narrow lead on Roma and Atalanta, but Juventus are likely to be handed another sizeable point deduction in a week.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the coach and the execs are under contract till 2025, but RedBird Capital would assess everything if the team didn’t reach its primary goal. The ownership likes to bring in young players with low wages, but the choices of management haven’t always gone in that direction.

Milan president Paolo Scaroni discussed Pioli and more during the Football Week (via Sportitalia).

“Qualifying for the Champions League is fundamental for our future. We have fans everywhere that must watch us in that competition. It’s a conditio sine qua non for them to support us, as Serie A isn’t broadcasted everywhere.”

“As for the coach, the results speak for themselves since he won the Scudetto last season. I’m a big fan of him, Maldini, and Frederic Massara since they embody the style of the team. We don’t complain or protest and behave like gentlemen. The same goes for our faithful. He doesn’t make excuses either. He’s tied to the team until 2025. It’s not up to me to make technical decisions, but I don’t see any problem.”

The chairman dished on Rafael Leao’s contract renewal.

“We haven’t announced it yet because it’s a complicated matter and requires a series of piece to fit in the right place. The directors are optimistic, so I’m confident we are nearing the end of such process.”
