Milan Ready to Hand New Contract to In-Demand Exec

Frederic Massara was reportedly targeted by Juventus, which are seeking a new chief of football, but they are leaning in different directions, and he could extend his contract with Milan soon. His deal is up in 2024. With such move, the Rossoneri would have continuity at the highest level since they recently re-upped with head scout Geoffrey Moncada.

Per Tuttomercatoweb, the ownership is mulling giving the sporting director a two-year renewal, pushing the expiration date to 2026. He’d keep serving as Paolo Maldini’s right-hand man under RedBird Capital. If the parties did come to terms, there’d be less haste and uncertainty than in the past. Both officials put pen to paper at the last second after takeover by the Gerry Cardinale.

Massara joined Milan in 2019 and has been instrumental in signing most of their current linchpins. He previously worked at Palermo, Roma, and Inter as Walter Sabatini’s collaborator. He later returned to the Giallorossi to help out Monchi and assumed the apical position for a few months after the Spanish executive was fired.

The official reportedly had at least one meeting with Juventus. Massimiliano Allegri endorsed him for their opening. The two played together at Pescara a few years back. The interest stemmed more from the suitors than from his intention to leave.

Despite his public statements and the fact that he’s under contract with Napoli for another year, the Bianconeri have zeroed in on Napoli mastermind Cristiano Giuntoli. They will table their offer as soon as the Azzurri clinch the Scudetto. President Aurelio De Laurentiis is expected to let him go if he asks to, but he might demand some form of compensation.
