Milan Slated to Reward Sandro Tonali with Richer Contract

Sandro Tonali has become the fulcrum of the Milan midfield, and the club is ready to compensate him accordingly. The Rossoneri have leaned heavily on him with other contributors having seesawing seasons.

The 21-year-old is already under contract until 2026. However, he earns just €1.2M, way less than his teammates. According to TuttoSport, the front office will meet his agent Giuseppe Riso in June. They will probably tack on another season to his pact and almost double his wages.

The Rossoneri brought him in from Brescia on loan with option to buy in 2020. They paid €10M as the initial fee, but the club had reservations about picking up their €15M clause to acquire him. He was not as effective and consistent in his maiden campaign in San Siro. They managed to renegotiate the terms of the deal with the Rondinelle, spending just €7M more, Alfredo Pedullà relays. The bonuses also decreased from €10M to €3M. Tonali facilitated the deal by giving up €400k of his annual salary.

He will get the money back and some in a few months. The agreement is seen as a formality by both outlets. In addition, Tonali has good chances to become the next permanent Milan captain. The club will have to pick a new one in the summer. Alessio Romagnoli is getting closer and closer to signing with Lazio. Franck Kessié, their second highest-capped player, has already agreed to a Bosman move to Barcelona. Instead, the Azzurri international figures to be a staple for years to come.
