After an insistent courtship by Fenerbahce, Rade Krunic has found another suitor, Olympique Lyonnais, but his departure remains unlikely. The proposal from the French team came closer to his asking price, but the Rossoneri have put their foot down about keeping him, SportMediaset informs.
The Ligue 1 team offered €12/13M. It was previously believed the Bosnian international would be sold for around €15M. However, that might have been the case if a team had come forward earlier in the summer, so his team would have had time to replace him.
Even though the offer is sizeable on personal terms too, Milan don’t want to lose Krunic. Stefano Pioli has been working with him as the linchpin of their midfield for the whole summer. He’ll be a regular till February when Ismael Bennacer will be back from injury.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri will discuss an extension once the transfer market closes considering the interest he generated this summer. He’s currently under contract until 2025. Pioli dished on him in the presser before facing Roma.
“He’s a starter and he’s very important to us.”
Our Take on Krunic, Milan, and Olympique Lyonnais
He must have a phenomenal agent if he really fetched these offers. It’ll be interesting to see if they will still be there in January too, when his team could be more permissive.
