Hakan Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez both tested positive for coronavirus and won’t be available for Monday’s Serie A match against Cagliari, an official statement from the club reported.
Calhanoglu and Hernandez are the third and fourth player from the Rossoneri to test positive in a few days, following Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic. Stefano Pioli will also be missing Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer, and Alexis Saelemaekers, who are all injured, on top of Rafael Leao who will be serving a one match ban.
With so many players unavailable, the Rossoneri gaffer will have very limited options to design his lineup for Cagliari: Diogo Dalot will take Hernandez’s place as left flank with the other full back role covered by Davide Calabria. Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer will cover the center back roles.
In the middle of the park, Franck Kessié and Sandro Tonali will play in a double-pivot role, with new joiner Souhailo Meite ready to make his debut during the game.
Behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the front-line, the supporting trio will likely consist of Samu Castillejo, Brahim Diaz – filling in Calhanoglu’s usual position – and Jens Petter Hauge.
