José Mourinho was not too down in the dumps in front of the press after the Coppa Italia defeat to Inter. He stated that his team had played well besides the first five minutes, as Edin Dzeko scored right away. However, he had a much different attitude in the locker room, where he did not spare expletives, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The Portuguese gaffer had a proper tirade against his men for yet another loss against a big team. The whole team was present, including physiotherapists and equipment managers: “I want to know why you were so scared in the first ten minutes! And I want to know why the same thing happened against Milan. Nobody is excluded.”
Mourinho went on to stress the poor results in the more challenging matches: “I want to know why you have not fared well against top teams in the last two years. If we play like a small club, the referees treat us as such. This is blatant. You were facing an elite squad like Inter tonight. Instead of finding the proper motivations, you were utterly spooked.”
Mourinho concluded: “The biggest possible flaw of a man is to lack the stones and personality. If you are flustered by this kind of games, you should move to Serie C, where there are not teams filled with champions, big stadiums, and the pressure of high-level football. You are gutless.” Roma have capitulated against Lazio once and Milan, Inter, and Juventus twice this season. They bid farewell to a potential objective Tuesday.
