Napoli Plotting Last-Gasp Bid to Sign Wantaway Fiorentina Ace

Fiorentina’s Sofyan Ambrabat has grown into more than just a thought for Napoli after a trace leading to Manchester United cooled. According to Corriere della Sera via FirenzeViola, the reigning Serie A champions are contemplating a late bid for the sought-after midfielder.

Amrabat’s future at the Stadio Artemio Franchi lies in the corridor of uncertainty. After informing the club of his intention to leave Tuscany for a more prominent location, the 26-year-old has found himself on the fringes of Vincenzo Italiano’s squad.

Italiano has refused to call the Moroccan star up for Sunday’s Serie A clash against Lecce, fuelling speculation about his imminent exit. It looks like Napoli could be his next destination. New manager Rudi Garcia is in the market for a new holding midfielder after a busted attempt to recruit Gabri Veiga.

Napoli came one step away from snapping up the brightest Celta Vigo talent. However, a deal collapsed at the 11th hour, with the Spaniard heading to Saudi Arabia instead. Veiga’s rejection has forced Partenopei to explore other avenues, with Amrabat’s name popping up.

After his latest omission, the highly-rated Moroccan has climbed up Garcia’s shortlist. But given a tight timeframe, Napoli would be wise not to waste much time. Fiorentina shouldn’t strongly oppose Amrabat’s departure, considering there’s no point keeping hold of an unhappy player.

But that doesn’t mean Napoli would probably have to dig deep into their pockets to get the deal over the line.
