Napoli’s goalkeeping dilemma might come to an end this summer, most likely by bringing a close to the duel between Alex Meret and Davide Ospina that has been going on for several years now.
Meret, 25, is the name in contention to leave the Partenopei as he no longer wants to continue the dualism with teammate Ospina and would rather like assurance from the club’s end regarding a regular place in the starting eleven.
Federio Pastorello, the player’s agent, revealed the aforementioned details to Sky Sport (via TuttoNapoli) in an exclusive interview. Pastorello says Meret would be willing to stay at Napoli as long as the club demonstrates trust in him.
Ospina on the other hand, sees his contract expire this summer, making Napoli’s stance much harder as there has no developments regarding contract renewal talks.
The Partenopei are considering to sign Genoa shotstopper Salvatore Sirigu as a potential backup, but onboarding a young keeper is the need of the hour at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
