Pioli: “We Immediately Put Aside the Match in Turin”

With the Rossonerri set to face Red Bull Salzburg this evening within match-week six of the Champions League, Milan boss Pioli provided insight on his side’s mentality.

Pioli’s men suffered a kink to their armour after an impressive start to their title-defending campaign as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Torino, conceding two goals in two minutes within the first half.

As a result, Milan currently sit in third with 25 points, six points adrift from the league-leaders Napoli and one point trailing from second-place Atalanta.

With the Rossonerri possessing an opportunity to the secure their spot into the Round of 16 for the first time in nine years this evening with nothing more than a draw needed at the San Siro, Pioli is assured that his squad have moved on from the difficult defeat from Sunday evening.

While speaking to SportMediaset, as relayed by MilanNews, Pioli spoke about his squad being solely focused on the Champions League and placing the Serie A to the side for the time being:

“We immediately put aside the match in Turin and concentrated on Salzburg. We play another competition and then continue to think about Saturday’s defeat. It allowed us to better prepare for the match against the Austrians.

Of course, we are not satisfied with Saturday’s performance against the Granata, but we have a great opportunity that we have been looking for and wanted.”
