Ronaldinho Expects ‘Magnificent’ PSG and Milan Clash

Brazil icon Ronaldinho expects the clash between two of his former teams, Paris Saint-Germain and Milan, to be a magnificent match. Quite aptly nicknamed as the Wizard, Ronaldinho mesmerized fans at both Parc Des Princes and San Siro at the start of the century and in the late 2000’s respectively.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), the 2002 World Cup winner took stock of the highly-anticipated encounter between the two clubs.

“I expect a magnificent match and I hope to be able to be in the stadium both in the first and the second leg. Because they are two clubs that I carry in my heart and two places where I was very happy.”

Ronaldinho then spoke exclusively of Milan, having played at San Siro alongside quite a few big names.

“I had a great time. With spectacular teammates: Kaká, Pato, Thiago Silva, Clarence Seedorf, David Beckham, Andriy Shevchenko, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Filippo Inzaghi. And then Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a collection of stars. I can feel the Scudetto won with the Rossoneri as mine, even if I didn’t finish the season in Milan to return to Brazil”

The Brazilian thinks Rafael Leao is the right player to carry on the legacy of the Rossoneri number 10 shirt.

“The number 10 on Leao’s shoulders? They are the right ones to wear that number. He is a player who enchants me, and I add that my thoughts should be shared by all those who love football because Rafa’s way of playing he brings everyone together, generates universal consensus based on entertainment. He can make a difference and I hope he plays a great match.”

Ronaldinho paid his tribute to San Siro, with Milan having plans to move away from the iconic venue.

“I imagine a huge new facility will be built and I can understand the reasons for the change. However, I place myself among the nostalgic, and I think that there are many of us this way.”

Ronaldinho registered 26 goals in 95 appearances for Milan, while netting 25 in 77 caps for PSG.
