Serie A Trio on High Alert As Otavio Agent Lands in Italy

Porto playmaker Otavio may continue his career in Serie A following his agent’s landing in Italy to negotiate his client’s future. According to FcInterNews, the player’s entourage Israel Oliveira is currently in Italy, looking to broker the midfielder’s long-overdue transfer to a more prominent destination.

Otavio has two more years left to run on his contract at the Estadio do Dragao. On top of that, his current deal with Porto features a substantial €60m release clause. However, a clause valid until July 15 means he can leave for €40m. Given a tight timeframe, all interested parties will have to act quickly.

Speaking of Otavio’s admirers, three of them are in Italy. Milan, Inter, and Napoli have set watchful eyes on the 28-year-old, who has spent most of his senior career in Portugal. The three Serie A heavyweights are ready to launch a bidding war to price the skillful playmaker away from Porto, as evidenced by Oliveira’s visit to the country.

After losing Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid, it’s understandable that Milan are in the market for a new advanced playmaker. While Inter look well covered in the midfield area, Hakan Calhanoglu’s drop-off in the second half of the season might have forced Simone Inzaghi’s hand. As for Napoli, their involvement in the race is somewhat puzzling.

Milan and Inter can both make a solid case for pursuing a deal for Otavio. But the newly-crowned Serie A champions boast outrageous attacking talent within their ranks.

Since swapping Brazilian outfit Internacional for Porto in 2024, Otavio has established himself as a major star in the Primeira Liga. Only last season, he accrued 44 appearances in all competitions, clocking up seven goals and 13 assists. As one of Sergio Conceicao’s most trusted allies, he holds a special place at Porto.

But every story must come to an end. Otavio’s one could halt in the coming weeks.
