Torino Shortlist Two Stoppers to Succeed Liverpool Target Schuurs

Dutch center-back Perr Schuurs has been linked to several sides, amongst which Liverpool and Napoli are understood to be leading the line. With such heightened demand, Torino have long conceded to losing the defender, and two stoppers have been shortlisted in case the Dutchman bids farewell.

According to Calciomercato, Atilla Szalai of Fenerbahce and Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos are atop Urbano Cairo and Davide Vagnati’s wishlist to succeed Schuurs in the back four. At 25, both defenders are at their peak, and their respective contracts expire in two years’ time – in the summer of 2025.

As per transfermarkt, both players are valued around the €15M mark, making them affordable targets for Torino.

Schuurs is expected to leave for no less than €35-40M. By targeting either one of the two aforementioned stoppers, Torino would not only make a considerable saving to invest elsewhere but also onboard a proven defender to boost the backline.

Former Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao was once proposed as Schuurs’ successor, but Fenerbahce have scooped up the Brazilian defender instead.
