Nahitan Nandez was left at the altar by Inter, which hopped onto the opportunity to sign Denzel Dumfries. The Uruguayan international has been openly demanding to leave Cagliari for quite some time. Tottenham have inquired about him over the weekend, Sky Sport reports.

The negotiation is at its early stages, but the two sides will further explore the deal in the next few days. His agent was enthusiastic about moving to the Premier League when Leeds United were tracking him. Afterward, he picked the Nerazzurri, but the transfer did not materialize. Now they could go after him again only if they sold one or two of their own midfielders, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

Cagliari asked Inter for €30M, which stalled the talks. Nandez did not show up for the friendly against Mallorca last week without giving notice. The coach omitted him from the squad list for the Coppa Italia match versus Pisa. He believes that the management promised to facilitate his transfer to a bigger club last season but did not follow through in the summer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Leeds United have resumed pursuing him and reached out to his entourage. Nandez has tallied 4 goals and 7 assists in 67 matches with Cagliari in the past 2 campaigns. He can feature indifferently as box-to-box or on either flank. The Sardinians are driving a hard bargain as they need funds to replace him. They thought they would be getting Radja Nainggolan on a free. Instead, the veteran midfielder has officially signed with Antwerp, which offered him a richer two-year contract.
