Luis Alberto to Extend Lazio Contract on One Condition

Lazio will undergo a squad overhaul this summer, as manager Maurizio Sarri and chief Claudio Lotito draw up plans for a new-look Biancocelesti side ahead of the 2023/24 season. With Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s future still up in the air, the club do not want to be handed a double blow, and will do everything in their power to keep Luis Alberto.

The Spanish midfielder is willing to hold extension talks with the Lazio management, but only on one condition. According to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Alberto wants a hike in wages – on par with what Milinkovic-Savic currently earns – around €3.5M net per season plus bonuses.

However, Lotito will be able to please Alberto only if his midfield counterpart is sold, as he does not want to undermine the balance of the locker room by exceeding the wage bill currently set by the management.

30-year-old Alberto will see his current contract expire in the summer of 2025. He has six goals and seven assists in 43 appearances for Lazio this campaign.
