Betis Pull Out of the Race to Sign Milan Outcast Alexis Saelemaekers

Despite making an inquiry for wantaway Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers, Real Betis will not pursue his signature in the transfer window finale. According to Sacha Tavolieri’s latest report, Los Verdiblancos have decided against tabling a late offer for the Belgian forward.

Betis requested information about Saelemaekers as part of their effort to replace Sergio Canales. However, after processing the facts, the Spaniards called off their pursuit of the 24-year-old. Betis’ withdrawal from the race for the former Anderlecht man leaves Milan in no man’s land.

Stefano Pioli has deemed Saelemaekers surplus to requirements. The arrivals of Luka Romero, Christian Pulisic, and Samuel Chukwueze have rendered the Belgian’s services redundant. Milan are eager to offload their outcast in the final days of the summer. But with Betis no longer in the picture, that could prove easier said than done.

There are other clubs interested in Saelemaekers. However, Milan have received no official bid yet. Time has become a factor. Pioli is desperate to remove his fringe winger from the club’s payroll. Yet, I Rossoneri have failed to drum up genuine interest in the underperforming Belgian.

If he stays, Saelemaekers will likely spend most of the season on the bench. Aware of his prospects at San Siro, he wouldn’t mind leaving in the next ten days. But everything is still in the balance. He should be in the squad when Milan take on Bologna on Monday.
