Cannavaro Backs Roma to Challenge Milan, Juve and Inter for Scudetto

Italy icon Fabio Cannavaro believes Jose Mourinho’s new-look Roma outfit have what it takes to challenge the top contenders for the coveted Scudetto title. Inter, Milan and Juventus have all strengthened in one way or the other. However, it is the Giallorossi who have bolstered their ranks in unexpected manner, especially with the signing of Argentine playmaker Paulo Dybala.

Speaking to ANSA (via FCInterNews) after Juventus’ sub-par 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the pre-season friendly, Cannavaro took his time to evaluate the Bianconeri’s performance and also shed light on the contenders for the 2022/23 league title.

“Summer friendlies count for little, maybe there was an excessive workload before and we don’t know. These matches must always be taken with a grain of salt. When there are three points then things change”.

When quizzed about which team he backs to lift the Scudetto once again, he pointed Milan’s away.

“The Rossoneri are the favorites because they are Italian champions, then behind there are Inter, Juventus and Rome. The Giallorossi now on par with the greats to contend for the Scudetto.”

The Serie A championship will begin on August 13, with Sampdoria vs Atalanta and Milan vs Udinese being the first two matches of the season.
