Cristiano Ronaldo Rumored to Have Been Offered to Roma

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked to an improbable Serie A return to Roma in the last few days. His agent Jorge Mendes famously represents José Mourinho too. He set up multiple transfers of Portuguese players in recent windows.

According to La Repubblica and Leggo, the star could transfer as he might not fit the style of Erik Ten Hag. Although, he praised the coach when Manchester United hired him. A return to Sporting CP could also be on the table.

Despite such rumors, it is highly unlikely that Ronaldo will transfer to Roma. He may not leave the Red Devils at all, Fabrizio Romano reports. He earns €25M per year, which is four times what the Giallorossi stars make. The management ceased pursuing Paulo Dybala when he asked for €8M wages.

Moreover, the forward left Italy too recently for the club to benefit from massive discounts on salaries of foreigners. Even Juventus did not during his time in Turin. The ace chose a tax system that did not allow the team to save on his wages. Instead, it granted him major benefits on his personal earnings.

As per Corriere dello Sport, any buyer would have to invest around €80/90M to onboard the 38-year-old for a couple of seasons. La Lupa is already in the red for €150M. They would have trouble abiding by the Financial Fair Play boundaries down the line. Moreover, the Portuguese ace and Mourinho respect each other, but their relationship was not always smooth in Madrid.

Our Take on the Ronaldo Links to Roma

It is cliché to say that ‘crazier things have happened,’ but that does not apply here because it would be properly insane. It would not be stunning if he moved, but he would probably join a Champions League contender if that were the case.
