Danilo on Playing with Miretti and Fagioli: “It’s Nice, I Remember Foden at City”

With Juventus set to host Inter Sunday eveining, full-back Danilo provided his insight on the Bianconeri’s difficult season so far.

As of right now, Allegri’s squad find themselves in seventh place with a total of 22 points, trailing two points behind Inter. A victory within their home-stomping ground in the Derby D’Italia would enable the Old Lady to keep their top-four aspirations alive.

While speaking with Dazn, as relayed by Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb, the Brazilian defender touched upon Juventus’ difficult first half of the season where they crashed into the Europa League and suffered four ties and two losses within the domestic league:

It’s not easy to analyze … In my opinion Juventus, even since I looked from the outside, always had an attitude of suffering. If you won 1-0 and then suffered to bring home the result the last 15 minutes it was fine, I saw players enjoy defending the result. In recent years we have tried to change something and this identity has gone a bit elsewhere. In this, Bonucci, Alex Sandro and Cuadrado are important who have been here for many years, they can let us see that spirit. When there is an identity there is always something to cling to. I don’t think it’s a problem of the head, I think it’s just a discourse of rediscovering identity.”

In addition, the 31 year-old full-back spoke about what it’s like playing alongside promising players Nicolo Fagioli and Fabio Miretti:

“It’s nice, I remember Foden at City … At 17 I saw in his eyes the desire to learn and be with the older ones, here today I see Miretti and Fagioli who have that desire in their eyes. This also gives us a boost to us, I talk to him and give him some lessons, but he also gives me something more. We need their help right now, also because I have been at Juventus since they were children. To be at Juventus you don’t just need to know how to play well in football, you must have the head and the ability to be there in the decisive moments. In the next few years they will be able to give many good things to Juventus. “
