Dybala Looking to Inherit the Baton of Juventus Leader from Ronaldo

Juventus had their first in-person summit with Jorge Antun, the agent of Paulo Dybala, over the weekend. There is a mutual desire to reach an agreement on a new contract in short order. The Bianconeri want to make him the face of the franchise again, especially because Cristiano Ronaldo will most likely leave next summer, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The parties did not go into details right away but are on the same wavelength. That was not always the case in the last two years when Fabio Paratici was pulling the strings. The former director had included Dybala in the package to acquire Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United and almost sold him to Tottenham the following year.

Carlo Novel, which takes care of the striker’s sponsorships also attended the meeting. Federico Cherubini and Pavel Nedved represented the club. New CEO Maurizio Arrivabene should be present at the next one. The revamped front office intends to build the squad around the no.10 in the future.

On the other hand, Juventus, like most teams, need to keep the costs in check. Before the pandemic, Dybala asked for a €12M salary. The Old Lady will not reach that sum now and might not get to €10M in their opening offer. They also need to decide the length of the contract, which might run through 2025, like Massimiliano Allegri’s one, when the attacker will almost be 33. These aspects will be discussed later this week. The club and the entourage did not consider other teams’ inquiries during the summer window.
