Ex-Lazio Sporting Director Exalts Milan Coach Pioli

Former Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has heaped praise on Stefano Pioli for helping Milan ascend back on the European hierarchy after a tumultuous second decade of the new century. Tare also exalted Pioli for integrating the new arrivals this season, as the Rossoneri signed the likes of Christian Pulisic, Tijjani Reijnders, and Ruben Lofus-Cheek, among others.

The ex-Biancocelesti executive spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) in an exclusive.

“Pioli arrived at Milan with a more varied background and different experiences. The period at Inter helped him, but also what he experienced at Lazio and Fiorentina prepared him for the final leap. He already had the right maturity upon his arrival in Milan, then we saw his growth up to the Scudetto. His hand can be seen in the way he has integrated the new players: Pulisic, Reijnders, Loftus-Cheek, people who set the pace and change the game.”

Tare believes the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri will go head-to-head for accolades this season.

“Like Milan, Inter have also made an interesting and tantalizing transfer market, modifying their offensive set-up. I think the two teams will fight for months.”

Inter and Milan remain are two of the four sides to remain unbeaten this season so far after three games, with Lecce and Juventus being the other two.
