Hakan Calhanoglu Wishful for Long-Term Stay at Inter

Hakan Calhanoglu disclosed that Simone Inzaghi was instrumental in his decision to join Inter: “We talked a couple of times while I was with the national team, and we quickly created a nice bond. In the end, we were both happy with my choice.”

The midfielder opened up in an interview with DAZN: “I have played in many roles, sometimes on the flank or as a no.10. I feature as a box-to-bow now, and I am trying to do my best to listen to what the gaffer tells me to do. Luckily, I have been able to fit right in.”

Calhanoglu took stock of his first Inter season: “I do not like to talk about myself, but I have given my whole to the team and my teammates. We want to fight to stay on top. I am happy, but you can always do more. The most painful loss was the one against Milan.”

“I have taken many penalty kicks, both in Germany and here in Italy. They are very meaningful against top teams. I have gotten used to it, and I am confident in my skills. You do not need to overthink in those situations; you just have to believe in yourself.”

Calhanoglu has clear ideas about his Inter future: “I want to stay as long as possible because I feel at home here. I like playing in Italy, as it is similar to Turkey. It was nice to set a record in terms of appearances, but I want to collect many more.”
